There are several other causes of bad breath, including:
- Tonsil stones
- Acid reflux
- Tooth decay
- Diabetes
- Indigestion
but tongue bacteria (or fungus) is one of the major causes, and definitely the easiest to cure.

This is a bigger factor than most people realize I think. Drinking caffeinated and/or alcoholic beverages can also dehydrate you and make this worse.
2-Use a tongue scraper daily:
After you do this once and see the filth that gets scraped off you will wonder why everyone doesn't do this. Get one of the metal ones with rubberized handles. (E.g. Dr. Tung). They're about $6.
It will take about a week or two before things really start to get better, but when they do they will be dramatically better.
3- Use a Waterpik daily:
Use a Waterpik daily on your gum line and between your teeth. I like to pour in a capful of mouthwash with the water. 1 or 2 tanks of water per session. A classic Waterpik is about $40.

5- Eat Healthier:
- Minimise heavy sugar/salt/oils in your food.
- If you need caffeine, try unsweetened green or white tea but avoid black tea.
- Eat more vegetables like rhubarb, it's good at killing a number of oral bacteria as are anything that contains a high number of polyphenols such*g as cranberries.
